Br. Allan Haiar was born in Humphrey, Nebraska, on the 2nd of July 1924, the 7th of 9 children: Jack N. (deceased), Raymond (deceased), Joseph H. (deceased), Francis, Helen, Evelyn, and a twin sister who died at birth. His parents were John P. and Margaret (Hutmacher) Haiar.

His most memorable experience was having a friend and neighbor come back to the sacraments and receive the last rites before he passed away. He does not go in for hobbies, but, he does enjoy working on cars and making things.
