On Sunday, June 8, our province of Franciscan Friars will begin a “Chapter” or assembly in St. Louis. Friars from across the province will be attending as delegates. At this Chapter all the offices of our government held by friars (Provincial and Vicar and Councilors and local guardians) will be vacant. We will hold elections of the major offices in the province on Tuesday and Wednesday. Local elections will be later in the summer.
We will also have discussions on matters that came up three years ago at our last Chapter. Some of those were: leadership development, finances, a “cultural audit”, our relationship with Islam, our relationship with our lay co-workers in our various ministries, and preparing a vision for the future.
This is a pretty big thing for us, elections and directions for the future. If you are a praying person, please lift us up in prayer during this next week. If not, just send good thoughts our direction. We will benefit greatly from your support no matter what. We need to listen to the Holy Spirit and to one another. Our Chapter ends on Friday at noon.
As news is released, it will be posted here.
